제가 지난 8월23일 페이스북에 올린 <독도수호결의안>에 대한 글에 대해 페이스북 친구인 Jenny Yoon님과 James 

Park님께서 영문으로 올려 외국인들에게 홍보하자고 하셔서 영문과 출신 솜씨 좀 발휘해봤습니다. 

I am Jae-Cheol SHIM, a member of the National Assembly. In 19th Congress, I am a member of the Supreme 

Council of Saenuri Party and also a member of the Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Committee. 

Today(23.8.2012), The Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Committee opened the conference about ‘The 

Resolution Of Protecting Dok-DO’ and unanimously adopted. 

This Resolution enforces once again that Dok-Do is clearly the territory of the Republic of Korea 

historically, geographically and by international law. And its contents urged against the government of 

Japan to stop all the actions and claims that damages sovereignty of the Republic of Korea over Dok-Do.

In addition, the committee demands the government to have consistent principles for protection of the 

national territory and also sends our will that the Republic of Korea will never tolerate any 

infringement on Dok-Do.

Japan continuously claims over Dok-Do despite Dok-Do is distinctly Korea’s territory, so we should not 

response temporarily and emotionally.

First of all, we should arrange everything to solve the brutal colonized by Japan during 1910 ~ 1945, in 

long-term strategy and accurate attitude.

And next, we need to demand apology and compensation to the government of Japan and they will no longer 

prohibitively insist deterrence claims to us.

Dok-Do is the territory of the Republic of Korea! 

제가 19대 국회에서 활동하고 있는 국토해양위원회에서 오늘(8월23일) 전체회의를 열고 ‘대한민국 독도 수호 결

의안’을 만장일치로 채택했습니다. 

독도수호 결의안은 독도가 역사적 지리적 국제법적으로 명백한 대한민국의 고유 영토라는 사실을 다시 한 번 강

조하면서, 일본 정부에 대한민국의 독도 영유권을 훼손하는 일체의 주장과 조치를 전면 중단할 것을 촉구하는 내

용입니다. 

아울러 우리 정부에도 대한민국 영토인 독도에 대한 어떠한 침해행위도 용납하지 않겠다는 확고한 국민 의지를 

구현하고, 국가 영토 수호를 위해 일관된 원칙을 갖고 필요한 모든 조치를 취할 것을 주문했습니다. 

독도는 당연히 우리 땅인데도 불구하고 일본의 억지 주장이 반복되고 있는 데는 우리의 일시적이고 감정적인 대

응에도 문제가 있다고 봅니다.... 

우선 돌이키고 싶지 않은 아픈 과거사 문제부터 장기적이고 냉철한 자세로 하나하나 확실히 정리해야 합니다. 

그래야만이 일본 정부에 당당하게 사과와 보상을 요구할 수 있을 것이고, 일본도 더 이상 우리에게 말도 안 되는 

억지 주장을 할 엄두를 내지 못할 것입니다. 

독도는 대한민국의 영토입니다...!
